Researcher Co-Op Opportunity – Vancouver Mural Festival │ Vancouver, BC, Canada │ December 2016 – July 2017

The Vancouver Mural Festival is a non-profit organization committed to creative and artistic development. Not only do they organize educational, musical, social and cultural events; but through the implementation of large scale murals the VMF helps empower, produce and celebrate artistic diversity in the city of Vancouver. As their research intern I conducted a proprietary research, observing the intersection of Cordova St and Cambie St before and after the implementation of three large scale murals. The objective of the comparative study was to identify if the implementation of public art in the area had any impact in the use of the space.

Teacher Assistant – Simon Fraser University │ Burnaby, BC, Canada │ August 2016 – June 2017

As a Teacher Assistant for the course Technology and Society (CMNS 345) my responsibilities included: planning and conducting tutorials, marking assignments and supporting students during office hours. Tutorials assisted in the discussion and application of the communication theories discussed in the course. Planning for tutorials was extremely enriching as it served as an opportunity to ground communication concepts and theories by discussing their relevance and pertinence in current times. Leading tutorials strengthened my public speaking skills. In addition, working with a diverse group of undergraduate students was a crucial lesson in adapting lessons that supported different types of learning

Montessori Teacher Assistant (Children’s House) – Brickton Montessori School │ Chicago, IL, USA │ September 2015 – July 2016 │

Assisting the Children’s House program at Brickton Montessori School was a life-changing opportunity. It introduced me to the Montessori method, an experience that expanded and transformed my views on education. Under the guidance of Megan O’Hehir, my responsibilities included: in-depth observations of the students behavior, assisting in the creation and preparation of class materials and ensuring that the classroom was suitable Montessori environment. The Montessori methodology challenged my perceptions on the role of the teacher, the student, the classroom and the community in the development of children

Server – The Cheesecake Factory │ Chicago, IL, USA │ April 2015 – April 2016

Working in this iconic restaurant prepared me to work in stressful, fast-paced and ever-changing environments. Apart from taking an extensive training to learn the menu in detail, this employment opportunity introduced me to the particularities of corporate work environments. Working in the Service Industry taught me to anticipate the patron’s needs and develop customer service skills.
